Analytical and Clinical Hypnotherapy is extremely useful in treating a wide range of problems/issues etc.
Jonathan Wootton is one of the few hypnotherapists in Wakefield, and indeed West Yorkshire, that has received training and is highly qualified to practice Analytical Hypnotherapy (Hypno-Analysis), a therapy that works on the doctrine of cause and effect (for every effect there has to be a cause).
So, for instance, if someone has a phobia (effect) there has to be a cause as to why the phobia has taken effect.
Analytical Hypnotherapy sets out to find and remove the root cause of a problem and thus bring permanent relief.
This therapy is particularly useful for eliminating phobias (a full list of phobias and listed in alphabetical order at the foot of this page).
Jonathan uses clinical (suggestion) therapy for the more simple problems such as smoking cessation, test nerves, weight loss, motivation and goal-setting etc.
Symptoms/Problems
The following are some of the symptoms that can be treated through clinical and analytical hypnotherapy. (This list is not exhaustive. If your problem/condition etc is not listed here call Jonathan on 01924 780819 or email at info@wakefieldhypnotherapy.co.uk to discuss and find out if Jonathan can help). Jonathan is skilled at dealing with a diverse range of problems/conditions etc but first and foremost provides a duty of care to all clients who consult him. If he honestly feels your problem/etc would be more suited to another type of therapy or that you should first consult your GP first he will advise you of this.

Phobias
There are countless amounts of phobias, maybe you can even add to the extensive list below.
In short, a phobia is: "an external symbolic interpretation of an internal anxiety."
The most common phobias are: Arachnophobia (spiders), Aviatopophobia (flying), Hydrophobia (water), Acrophobia (heights), Claustrophobia (enclosed spaces), Agorophobia (open spaces), Demophobia (crowds), Nyctophobia (darkness), Odontophobia (dentists), Glossophobia (speaking in public), Aichmophobia (needles), Thanatophobia (death or dying).
Although some phobias seem to serve an obvious purpose (fear of fire, drowning etc.) some appear to make no sense at all! - rest assured though, all Phobias serve a purpose. In therapy, we can find the originating cause (the unconscious conflict) of the Phobia and release it - and when the emotions are released, the phobia disappears. Most Phobias are not directly related to the cause of the emotion, they are symbolic of it. The most obvious example is the fear of flying: how many people do you know who have lived through a plane crash? None? well where do the UK's 12 million aviatophobics come from then? They (mostly) don't have a fear of flying (or dying, or crashing, or being blown up), they have a fear of being out of control - which their brain symbolises and the projects onto flying.
Okay, why is analytical hypnotherapy (hypno-analysis) so successful?
Phobias are almost always formed in the childhood (though the symptoms may not appear for many years) and are caused by the sufferer bottling up some strong emotions, and those emotions being projected onto an object/situation.
The only way to eliminate a phobia is to release the bottled up emotions that are causing it. Sounds easy?
The problem is that most of the time, the bottled up emotions are completely locked away in the depths of the person's subconscious mind. (repressed) So the sufferer has no conscious awareness of the emotions or experiences that are bottled up.
Most other types of therapy cannot gain access to these 'locked away' emotions & experiences, whereas hypno-analysis can.
Over a period of about 6-10 sessions, at weekly intervals, we slowly link thoughts and memories back through time until we come to the bottled up emotions. When we get to these emotions they are released and no longer cause problems.
A good analogy is a live match. Before a match has been struck it is quite a dangerous object. Strike the match and you get a mini explosion (emotion) and then the match is dead, is has not more power.
